July- We had our first official family of four pictures taken by Kay Walker. We had a sweet visit from Aunt Carrie. We took a trip to Birmingham for an interview and got to see Johnny, Tara, Jack and Charlie again and celebrate Chris' birthday with them. There were trips to the pool and beach. Summer was in full force!
September included Kate's first day in 3 year old preschool. We enjoyed a visit from DotDot and Poppy. We took a long weekend trip to Maine, it was rainy but we had a blast.
October was full of carving pumpkins, hayrides with Kate's class, and more Razorback game watching. We had a visit from DotDot when Chris went to Miami for his annual ASTRO meeting. Then at the end of the month we had a visit from Nana. During Nana's visit we had our first snow of the year, and to date the only snow so far. It ended up being another storm that would paralyze the northeast. We had friends that had to go to Rhode Island to have electricity and stay warm. Even with snow on the ground we took the kids trick or treating for the first time. Kate was a ladybug and Benjamin a lion, all at her request. Another big milestone, Benjamin started crawling in the middle of the month and then within two weeks was pulling up and cruising. Just in time to show off for Nana.
November included Kate's third birthday party, it was balloon themed. Her sweet friends joined her to eat pink cake, another Kate specific request. That same weekend I got to help host a shower with my good friend Brooke for our friends Kristen and Mike Krop. They didn't know what they were having at the time but they had a beautiful baby boy named Julien on December 24, 2011! Thanksgiving was at our usual place, the Crocketts. They so graciously open their home to us "transplants" and we have had the privilege to share the Thanksgiving meal with them for 3 of our 4 years in Connecticut.
December was Christmas and all that entails. We celebrated in Fayetteville with both our families and it definitely left Kate wanting to be closer to her grands. The kids got to see ALL their aunts and uncles and even their great grandparents. Watching our kids get to know their extended family was so special.
So there it is...our year in review. 2012 will bring a lot of change to our little family. We will watch Benjamin turn one soon, in the spring take a trip to Little Rock to house hunt, in June/July we'll move our family from our northeastern home back to where we started out our marriage...where I was born! Kate will turn four!?! How is that possible? We can't wait to see what God has in store for this upcoming year and know that a lot of faith and continual prayer will be desperately needed along the way.
