We've been wanting to go on a trip just the 3 of us and we wanted to attempt a New York City weekend before Kate turned one. I had been nervous about going to such a big city but it really turned out great. Kate did AMAZING! She took a very small nap on the train going there and then took a nap late Saturday afternoon for a couple hours. She was so worn out by Sunday afternoon she finally gave in and nodded off in her stroller.
We stayed in a hotel between Times Square and Grand Central so that was convienent...great price too which made it nice. Saturday we arrived around 10am, checked into our hotel and then set off to see the New York Public Library, ate a great lunch at this place called The Stand (I heard about it on the Food Network...they have fantastic shakes and the Toasted Marshmellow was delicious!) then we did some more walking around Bryant Park, went to Macy's where the Thanksgiving parade is performed, by then we were all a little tired and our legs were ready for a rest. So we went back to the hotel and Kate napped. We then went out to this place called The Madhatter. I had a feeling it was not going to be the best place to have a baby but we wanted to see some fellow Razorbacks. Sure enough we got to the bar and it was TOTALLY not a place for babies...much less there wasn't a chair in site. So we caught the score (Arkansas was ahead at that point) and went down to Times Square. Around 8:30pm Kate was getting really tired and I knew she'd be ok if we kept walking but sitting at a restaurant might not be such a good idea. So we went back to the hotel fed her, got her in bed and ate take-out sushi...in our bathroom! Classy! :) It was really fun though and it was a decent sized bathroom for a NYC hotel room. Kate went to sleep and we quietly turned on the tv to catch the game. Sunday was BEAUTIFUL so we grabbed a breakfast of bagels and coffee and took them to Central Park. We made our way to the Met with full intention of going in but since it was such a nice day we figured we'd save a museum for a rainy day. We met up with Esther Stilwell (friend from high school) for lunch at the Whitney Museum at Sarabeth's . It was so good to catch up with her and hear about her life in such a busy city.
We had a great time and can't wait to take Kate back. The weather was great...much better than our super hot temps we had when we went last summer when I was waddling around super prego. Enjoy our pics...

Glad you all fun there though..great pictures. We had fun too and got to see the German-American parade that just so happened to be going on the day we went :)
Glad you guys had fun. We have done the take out in the bathroom thing. Life with kids definitely makes you do things you never thought you would!
Molly and I were just enjoying all the pictures of your cute little Kate. She has a great smile! I love her little bald head--reminds me of when Molly was a baby. She is such a pretty girl.
