Kate: Two and half...how can it be?!?!

Kate is at such a fun age right now...actually they really all are.  No doubt it's trying at times.  She has a lot to say but just doesn't always know how to get all the words out.  It can be frustrating for her and us but she's learning and growing so much.

One of the Kate funnies I don't want to forget is one evening she was at the dinner table and kept saying "Knock, knock!".  We honestly didn't think she was doing a joke but the natural thing to say next was "Who's there?".  Then she went on to tell us an entire knock knock joke she remembered from Backyardigans!  I was amazed at her memory. I can't remember a joke to save my life!

Most nights Kate willingly goes to bed without too much fuss.  She gets in bed just fine but it's the actual process of falling asleep that can take up to an hour.  She's good and will play in bed and talk or sing but it can take a while.  Just about every night she will ask for apple juice.  We do end up giving her some but not always right away.  We know eventually when she starts potty training we won't want her drinking too much before bed.  So every night we hear, "Apple juice, please"...then it becomes a rapid "Applejuice, applejuice, applejuice".  After she has yet to receive the outcome she seeks, she starts saying VERY slowly "AAAAAPPPPLLLLEEEE JJJJUUUUIIICCCEEE, please".  She's tireless in her efforts and eventually we give in and she gets her few sips of juice she wants.  It's a battle we don't necessarily want to fight right now. Plus, hearing the way she says it always captures our heart.  (I know that funny will probably mean more to Chris and I than anyone)

She is a Daddy's girl through and through.  She loves her Momma too though...as Chris says, he's a "want" and I'm a "need".  She doesn't like me to be away from her but LOVES to see her Daddy at the end of the day.  He's her jungle gym and she her cuddle bug at the end of the day before bed.  She loves to climb in his lap and watch her last show before bedtime.

She's really into manners, when she doesn't want something she says "No thank you"...even in a tantrum fit she's be yelling "NO THANK YOU!".  She also loves to say "Bless you"...especially to Benjamin (who has just recently been called Benjamin instead of baby by his sister)..."Bless you, baby" or "Bless you, Benjaba".

One evening Chris had her upstairs with him and I had gone up for a second to put some clothes up.  I heard Benjamin cry downstairs so I headed back down quickly.  Chris said she picked up his phone and started having this conversation with Benjamin.  "Hi baby, it's ok.  Momma's coming.  Daddy here."

Not sure where she got this from but lately she's been saying "Busy body"...not sure if someone called her that or what...but they're right on.  She is a busy body!  She likes to show off on her own terms.  She can count to 10 and likes to be quized on her colors (when she's in the mood).  Often she'll say, "What's that?" and what she wants is for us to say "What is that?" and then she'll answer proudly.

Kate you are my precious girl. You remind me of myself in your sensitivity.  You remind me of your Daddy in your sweet smile and genuine loving heart.  Keep growing sweet girl...just please not too fast.
