To say we had a fun trip to Utah last week would be an understatement. To have basically 5 days of “adult” time with my husband would be wonderful…but add a couple we love hanging out with and add doing something my husband LOVES (and I like too)…it was like an ice cream sundae with lots of great toppings.
We headed out Wednesday as I detailed in my previous post and made is safely to Salt Lake City. We enjoyed yummy meals and great conversation as we talked about everything with our friends, the Heads, from original sin to why in the world selfie poles are becoming so popular!
It was a refreshing trip which had a ton of highs and one daily low…which was Chris encountering altitude sickness EVERY morning of the trip. He’s never expereinced altitude sickness (I almost typed morning sickness, and that too would be true) when we’ve gone on ski trips before so it was kind of a shocker. He would feel yucky as soon as he woke up and then by the time we were out on the mountain he would be just fine. Really strange! Now we know to come armed with medication and a lot of water ahead of time.
The Canyons was a great place for a couple trip, not a place we’d bring the kids when they’re little because we didn’t see just a ton of kids but I’m sure they were there. The sking was great, lots of good blues and not a lot of greens which was good because it pushed me to gain more confidence on blues.
On our last day of skiing, Chris’ fellow co-resident and his wife joined us for the day. They jumped right in and we enjoyed having them with us. All three of us couples had similarly age kids and we talked about everything ranging from potty training to teaching our kids to ski. They were so fun to ski with as well.
All that to say, the trip was such a fun time as a couple and getting to know better some of our sweetest friends. But alas, the trip ended and back into the life we walked…a life I’m grateful to come back to and enjoy. A big THANK YOU to my parents for keeping the kids for us. Time away is so important, if anything to reconnect as a couple and remind us of what a privilege it is to parent two sweet kiddos that we love dearly. A big THANK YOU to my parents for keeping the kids for us.
